Salary to Hourly Calculator

This calculator converts pay between time periods in both directions: enter an annual salary to see the equivalent hourly rate, or enter an hourly wage to see what it adds up to per year, month, and week. It is handy for comparing a salaried job offer against hourly work, or for figuring out what a raise really means per paycheck.

Hourly wage
$36.06
Monthly
$6,250.00
Weekly
$1,442.31
Daily (5-day week)
$288.46

The conversion depends on how many hours you work per week and how many weeks you work per year. The default assumes a standard full-time schedule of 40 hours per week and 52 paid weeks, but you can adjust both to match your situation.

How it's calculated

Hourly = Annual รท (hours per week ร— weeks per year)

For the reverse direction, multiply: Annual = hourly rate ร— hours per week ร— weeks per year. Monthly pay is the annual figure divided by 12, and weekly pay is the annual figure divided by the number of paid weeks.

Worked example

A $75,000 annual salary at 40 hours per week and 52 weeks per year works out to $36.06 per hour, $6,250 per month, or $1,442.31 per week. Conversely, a $25/hour job at the same schedule pays $52,000 per year.

Frequently asked questions

โ€บIs this before or after tax?

The conversion is done on whatever figure you enter, so if you enter gross (pre-tax) salary you get gross hourly pay. Taxes, retirement contributions, and insurance premiums reduce take-home pay and vary by location and situation.

โ€บHow do unpaid vacation weeks affect the result?

If you are hourly and take unpaid time off, reduce the weeks per year. Working 48 paid weeks instead of 52 at the same hourly rate lowers annual income by about 7.7%.

โ€บWhat is the hourly equivalent of common salaries?

At 40 hours/week and 52 weeks: $40,000/year โ‰ˆ $19.23/hour, $60,000 โ‰ˆ $28.85/hour, $80,000 โ‰ˆ $38.46/hour, and $100,000 โ‰ˆ $48.08/hour.

โ€บDoes overtime change the comparison?

Yes. Hourly workers in many countries earn 1.5ร— pay beyond 40 hours per week, while salaried employees usually do not. If you regularly work long hours, an hourly role can out-earn a similar salary.
